SpringEvent in Rome, April 2008
I will be participating as a speaker at the "Spring Event" in Rome organised by the American University of Rome. My presentation is entitled: "Information Literacy is key with a SOA concept".I wanted to highlight the following:
(1) After the introduction of the 'printing', books have been the only 'true' source of information. This has been tied with the word 'ONE' aspect in the Title of the presentation;
(2) Since the introduction of the Internet, information has grown exponentially. This has been tied with the word 'MANY' in the Title of my presentation.
Subsequently, our Generation Y and the Google Generation have been inundated with the amount of information to which they are exposed to. This translates in different synergies and networks which, we as information professionals must build and provide not only for these generations but for posterity as well. Therefore, the SOA concept is introduced as a means to ensure that our strategies incorporated in proper information provision architecture, would enable us to have 'informed citizens' and 'lifelong learners'.
