Dear Readers,

One of the latest conferences which took place in Padua, Italy, was the annual IASL Conference. This year's theme was "School Libraries in the Picture: Preparing Pupils and Students for the Future'.

Without doubt, school libraries are alive and kicking in certain parts of the world and dying or dead in other countries. However, the fact remains that school libraries must continue to prepare students for years to come. Many said (including teachers or persons in high positions) that libraries are not needed any longer. They might not have said it in words but surely, through the way they think about education or lifelong learning.

The concept of lifelong learning is not going to happen just by schooling. In fact, it will not happen through schooling unless, schools will incorporate the concept of introducing the 'Information Literacy Program' as part of the curricula.
